Our 2011 - Valentines

Last year 2011, we had a lot of work here at our home during valentines season, why? we wanted all fresh and new. And, we did it so, we made a door fron decoration, we had hearts hanging from the ceiling, cards for all of our friends and neighbors, anyways we had a lot - A LOT of fun here!

Valentine?? Can you smell the sweetness?

I love holidays, and all about planning it, the card, the decorations, the food, everything, my lil burundanguita love it too.
Valentines isn´t the exception, together that february is the month of mybday, yes
I am a feb-fab-girl! I know I know (kind of big ego girl here, but think of this I am here at home alone no friends -adults friends - ofcourse my lil girl is here, around I have to tell myself nice things from time to time, sooo pls apologize my big ego ego! yep could you?)

What about a fancy gift without a nice presentation, for me it is like giving and empty box as a present, Nothing!

I like to make cute boxes to send my gifts. Always I try to find the correct color combo that matches the receiver choices.

Here is a box I made for a Bday Party my Lil Burundanguita was invited, the mom of the kid was happy with the box (not just the content) she love it!!

Sorry for the pictures, but I forgot to take nice pictures at home, and when we arrived to the party place I just realiced I had no pictures of the box.

I made this totebag for a teacher at my burundanguitas school, she saw the one I made for my girl´s BDay and she requested one.

For all of them I made them without a tutorial I just cut the fabrics and by essay and error I made them all.

I love the color combination the teacher chose pink and brown, very girly, love it!

Time Flies...

If you are a mommy like I do, you know exactly where I am going, right?

Over the last few days I was think in how big is my daughter, and where did go this 4 years,
wow my baby girl, that is baby no longer, is growing soooooooooooooooooooooooooo fast! I have look thru her pictures from the very beginning and God, TIME FLIES, where does this 4 year goes (crying here-so sentimental), it was only yesterday that we started giving her soft food, and now she is a PK Girl.

No, I am not complaining I love the way she has turned out, so femenine,girly, crafty (oops guess from who?), so cute, adorable, pretty, wonderful (the list is endlesss) but the most important so Healthy and Inteligent, she amaze me every single day since the moment she borned. She is the most amazing little person in my life, my precious, my treasure, the reason I live for and more. Wow, I love being a mom and I love my child very much.

Well, I know that in 4 years more I will look in todays pictures (2011) and will be sentimental/nostalgic again, and then I will have a pre-teen kid at home, wow times fly, that´s why I take every moment at her side in depth.

A dream come true

POST ALERT- Long post with a lot of pictures.

We are still working in testing our Lil Burundanguita´s Christmas present, could you believe it?
Sadly, I always tell myself that we are going to ask Santa for a few presents cause there is no much space at our house to store things, but when we sit and write the letter OH GOD, we end writing a long list of it (you know the rest) :( sad to our pocket and happy for her, because adding the granparents gifts, aunts&uncles, friends, etc. they end with kind of 15+ gifts, which is good I am not complaining dont get me wrong, ok? I am just telling the story.

This year Santa brought our girl a Sewing Machine, for real! it can sew straight lines perfect just like my own sewing machine. I taught her how to use (at least tried for first time we will need more practice), how to pass the fabric, etc. She was thrilled with the idea of sewing like her mommy, MEEEEEE It is one of my dreams COME TRUE! yeiiiii

We used a piece of fabric of aproximately 6" long by 4" wide, the made a straight stich to attach the borders leaving space to pass a ribbon to shring the dress of aprox.1/2"

It tooks us 15 minutes to make it and counting all the "again, burundanguita" instrucctions.

I said "yes, I do" to the most wonderful man in the world and the universe, well: to the infinity and beyond, my dearest Juan, my husband.

My man is my best friend ever, he knows me better than anybody, he cannt tell when I am happy or sad just looking at me, he is very supportive, comprehensive, loving, and much more. Sorry ladies, this man is MARRIED to MEEEEEEEEE!!!

and as I said I - we "said yes we do" 8 years ago, today we are celebrating 8 wonderful years of marriage, full of memories, full of high and low moments, more high moments than everything. We have grow a lot together, we learned to build & organize a house, to budget (still working on that), to fold the bed (for him), to make groceries (for me, I didnt know how to make it), we have improve our cooking skills (both of us) and the most important role in our lifes: " we have learned to be parents", mom and dad of our wonderful burundanguita, yes, life is great, life is wonderful.

Thanks God for all the blessings I have in my life. I am very sorry that the rush of my days dont let me see the many blessings I have. As a human being I make mistakes, a lot of mistakes and that is one of my mistakes, complaint and sometimes dont see how blessed I am :( Today I see it, and will added to my resolutions of 2012 too.

Today, I see the sunshine and I see their beautiful eyes and smiles, and then I look over to the sky and say Thank you God, for the beautiful angels that you have borrow me to become my family! Thank you, Thank you, to the infinity and beyond... (am I a fan of Toy Story??? "yes I do")

A year in review - 2011

Since my daughter was born in Summer 2007, every year got better and better, tks God for that.
She is the light that amaze us every single day, she is our sunshine, she full our life with love, her smile, she teach us and gift us many experiences, lessons, again love, and many other things.

The 2011 year wasnt the exception, I dont want to say that it was all full of happy things, noo it wasnt like that, like a normal human being our life during 2011 was full of highs and lows, but today i will focus my post in that, our best moments, crafts, etc. of 2011

To start, back in January we threw a Bday Party for my girl´s 4yo. with everything she love and want to be a FASHIONISTA.

For back to school in February I sew for my girl an Apron with her name on it. Now we are preparing her 5th Bday party, wish will be amazing, she is very excited about that.

At that time, I couldnt take a picture of my daughter wearing it because she was "tired of modeling, mom"!

Also I did labels for her school books and supplies.

We participated in a nice Crafts Show as a Team (me and girl), during the event she helped me to show our customers our products, she had a space in the table for her cards and all stuff she made for the event. Look at her proud face in this pic. :) Isnt she the cutest!

I also started making felt food, still have a lot to do for my girl little kitchen (fruits, vegetables, etc.) I have to work on that for 2012.

Oh I remember back in June we threw a party for girl at school because of her Star Kid Week, she wanted everything about Justin Bieber & we made this ñomi cookie (I/we still have to work on presentation but who is counting, right, the important is that we enjoy the making/the process)

I sew a lot this year,hopefully this 2012 more & more. I sew the first dress for my Girl.

And then came november and we started to work in a Christmas (kind of green and red combocolor?) theme.

When I finished this post, wow I have just realize I have made a lot of crafting and DIY during 2011. tks God for that, because it make me happy to think I did things with my own hands for my daughter and home. yei!

Resolutions for 2012

I think it is common to start a new year stating the resolutions or purposes for it, right?
Well, let me tell you that my list for the 2011 was long very long, it had things for my daughter (dresses to sew, crafty dolls, felt food to make, etc.), for the house (decorations, etc.) & for myself things like: learn to cook & speak greek, improve my english & french, read a thousand books, lose the extra pounds I gain since ... ever... (a couple of 5 pounds+ on it - diaac), do crafts shows myself, crafts classes, take of ground my craft business, crocheting, sewing, scrapping, etc. and the list is long.

And what about 2012, well the story can not be different, Burundanguitas Family has its Resolution long list. Here is our equation this 2012:

X + [ Y / Z ] = ?

Where:

X is my Family always first & will be my constant item in this equation - they are my courage and strenght to keep going.
Z is my long list of purposes for the 2012 (see details below)

Y is the time which always will vary & can make me quit my projects.
? will be the memories we will make during 2012.

Resume: Family + what we do = A lot of memories for 2012 :) yeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

What Include my Resolution List for 2012, there is no special orther except for the first about god.

Before I start I hope I can make before January ends a Resolution Board like this:

via

1. Go to church and make a time for Bible reading during every day of the week. We do it but not every day. And that is not right. God should be always there& I should teach my girl about our faith more than we do now.

2. Eat more at home & healthy, to reduce expenses. I am very lazy in the kitchen and that is why we have to eat out very often.

3. Homeschool my girl, although she goes to PK I think there is much more I can do with her at home. I can not leave everything to the teachers. I tought her a lot last year, but I think I can do more.

4. AGAIN, try to lose some pounds (maybe 5 pounds) to be honest with myself? & Read more from books than the web :)

5. Date my hubby more often (yei for Mr.B), that have to be fun! :) Dont happens to you that there is a lot to do at home and you and yr hub have no time to go out? Well, we happen that. :(

6. Recontact my friends from school or past jobs? Those with whom I have common things and are good people, of course.

7. Exercise, at least walk 1 hour per day with my lil girl. I took her baby stroller out, I know she is big, but I have nobody to leave her at home so I can go out and have some stretch. So let´s use what I have in hand, she still can be sit in her stroller.

8. Give Crafts Classes (I didnt do it las 2011 for different reasons).

9. Become a Doer with my Crafts Business and take it out of the ground.

10. Participate in craft Shows more often and host mine.

11.Make Panamanian tourism and go to Disney for first time with Mr.B & Lil BGirl).
12.Do more crafts suchs as: sew more, retake crocheting and stitching, scrapping, home improvement, etc. etc.
13. Separate time for family & schedule my time working in front of the compute to spent less hours in it. Cause for now It is taking long hours to update something or write and email or post. why? cause I get decentralize and start looking for other things. (could you believe that this email took me about 2 hours to write? shame on me, right?)
14. Again, Improve my french & english
15. Again, learn Greek language and cooking I did nothing about this last year.
16. post in the blog in regular basis.
17. and more A-N-D M-O-R-E!

The list is very long and I just write 16 things it is almost 30+ there, I have the faith that this year I will accomplish many of this long list. With the help of my family (Mr.B, Little BGirl and me Mrs. B - what are the B´s those are the Burundanguitas Family) of course.

Me, Myself & I

Welcome Wednesday 2012!
It took me several days, hours, minutes, etc. to decide how to start blogging this new 2012. I wanted to make it with the correct foot. I have several ideas in my mind: starting with a tutorial, with big news revelations, with something about family, with all the posts that are still in the box from lately 2011, with my resolutions, with a receipt, and the list is very long. Well, here is my 2012 begining.

I want to share with you a picture of myself (yes very selfish, what about that), shame on me! ja - but I have a good excuse, I just wanted to share - something about me, myself & I (again totally selfish, but keep readin!)- with you all a picture of me wearing a panamian folklore dress (a fancy one) named "pollera" with all the tembleques and jelwery. We made this picture back in 2004 with my hubby while we were preparing/getting married (could you belive it is almost 8 years of marriage next January10th? OMG), and I have beautiful memories from those days. Yes I am a LATIN girl, from the Azuero land (is a region here in my town) my grandparents were from Las Tablas, have you hear about the Panamanian Carnivals and its Famous Las Tablas one? were you should look for info and dont miss the next one (I think they are in february 2012) because they are great.

I used to attend them when I was younger in my twentyplus years and hopefully will attend this year too.

Why I share a thing about ME, Myself & I? Well, because things last this (sharing my photos, crafts, ideas, etc.) is what is this blog about. All about sharing, stuff from me, my family, my life & my stuff. That´s all, if and extra positive thing come or devolp from that thanks God for that.

Remember, that post from december 2011 HERE, that took me to think and think of continues or not blogging, well I received a lot of lovely comments & emails from new people/friends that I never thought was reading my blog, what about that? they encourage me to continue and keep trying, and make it for fun, they give me tips to improve myself in this issues, they told what they like about me&my blog and what the dont (is always nice to know the good and not so good things), etc. etc. those words make the difference for me. So I decided to keep trying and make it for me, as a diary of my life. I really enjoy blogging, and meeting people in blogs hops, linkingparties, communities, it is very nice to feel involved in something, and as SAHM I cannot actually go out and have meetings, so my meetings are more here in blogland.

RESUME: - Let me tell you people, I will keep trying cause this is my place to share, to make my confessions, to do my crafts, to learn & teach, to meet new people and make friends, to share, to share & share with you. - There is a lot of pretty things waiting for me out there to get done for my daughter, my hubby, my house, my friends, my people, me (noticed that I am the last in the long list, as always!).. Yes, life is too short to keep thinking in the bad side of everything - that is one of my resolution for 2012 stop thinking negative and start focus on positive ALWAYS-

definetly a year with many many good things in my life! and others not so good, but well that is God decission I just have to work in accepting those.

Anyhow, I have great news for you people this new year 2012, but this post will be exclusive for ONE thing to let you know that I will join the Scrapbooking Galicia Design Team. I feel very excited about it. I will be helping with tutorials for Boxes & Cards for Events like birthday parties, weddings, coctails; a kind of mass production items. You can take a look at the interviews that the owner of the project, Paloma a girl from SPAIN, have done for each and all the great girls that will be joining the team at Galicia too.

Ribbon Bows Tutorial

Hi friends,
We are up to 3 days til Christmas, how exciting is that. My lil Girl is very very excited, she cannt wait for Santa, she is so anxious and I am too. She picked up the kind of cookies, plate, vases etc. she will use for santa night snack. She chose it, but still dont place it under the tree, imagine all the ants that could be around the cookies by saturday night? no no.

Elf in the Shelf Ideas

How many days till Xmas, mom? that the phrase I hear every morning since december started.
Do that happens in yr house too? well my girl is very very excited, and me too?
We have a Reindeer in the Chair (read about it HERE) instead of the Elf in the Shelf which I hope next year I can find one here in my Country (I will work on that issue early August, 2012 jejejeje). Well, although we dont have and elf itself, it is too funny to see all the funny ideas mommies from around the world do to put their children in the trace of the said Elf.

Advent Day 17

Long post with a lot of photos.

On Saturday 17, my girl, husband & me celebrated the Spirt of Christmas Day (although it is celebrated in the 21 day of Xmas advent), but we couldnt make it on a wednesday.

We invite 5 friends of our daugther, and they had a lot of fun playing around the house, decorating Paper Christmas Houses and exchanging gifts.

I prepared all decoration together with hubbi and my Girl,

For the cupcakes and red glasses we used the printables from Sweet Metel Moments, which are lovely. For food we had snacks, cupcakes, some greek sweet treats name "curambies", marshmallows, gumdrops, chocolate hersheys, hotdogs & soda.

The other printables (bent cards with the kids names, the H - O - H the welcome sign, the Santa Card, all from DimplePrints

I used jars from around the house and decorate them with paper scraps and ribbons, also use a shoe box and wrap it with crepe paper then decorate it with ribbon and a printable circle from Dimpleprints

The Paper Houses are handmade all cute and glued by us (lil girl, hubby & me), from some patterns I found free around the web so long ago. I actually dont have the link or dont remember for the template. Each kid had a House with embellishments in it with their own names to keep.

We made a ballon arc with red and green ballons. My Girl decided she wanted to wear a Princess SnowWhite Costume, why? I dont know.

I also made some photo props, I saw a lot of the around the web but they all had a priced, and I didnt want to pay for nothing, so I put to draw a little and using some ideas from a coloring book my girl has, i made the prop myself. You can download them HERE (are free):

Christmas Ornament Tutorial

the countdown begun, 5 days to Christmas eve...

Some weeks ago, I saw in a Craft Fair (CF) here in Panama some Christmas Tree Ornaments. They really look nice but were really expensive & they we made from paper, I couldnt afford them.

I saw them carefully during the CF so I can try later to make one for myself. And I did,
Here I will show you how to make these beauties:

I made 12 of these for our own Xmas tree and 6 for my lil girl classroom tree.

Here is how you can make them:

First of all you will need a couple of scrapbook pages of yr choice, I had these from a pad a had from last year. Then you will need to cut 20 circles for each ornament. The size of the circles is 2". Remeber 20 circles for each ornament, now do your math for whatever amount of ornaments you will like to make. ok?

After you cut your 20 circles, you take each of them and score them making a triangle on them like this:

Then you proceed to fold them

Now you will need to take 5 of the circles and glue them like making a big circle this will be the top of your ornament, then go and take 5 circles more and another big circle and that is the bottom, my friend:

After that you will take the remaining 10 circles and start glue them like this. I made a technique for these, one time use the triangle point on top next the triangle to bottom, and so on till I glue all 10 circles. and at the end you will glue the beginning and the end together.

as the last step, you will glue the top to each tap of the middle part, and the glue bottom as well.

An then, everything is done! Easy right? Imagine paying $5 for each of these ornaments in that Craft Fair? no way, I made 18 (12 + 6 ) for about $5 in no time, yeah!

¨Growing Chart

Since my lil girl was a tiny baby, I always wanted to make her a Growing Chart, for some reason or the other I never did it. Last week I worked very hard, in my pending list and finally did it.
She has a growing chart at age of 4 (almost 5), I know I know she is big enough, but it was my wish, the deepest in my hearth.

Here some pics of what I made for my precious treasure Lil Burundanguita, she helped to decorate it with with the Foam numbers and with letters for her name. All kids love Sesame Street, and my Lil Burundanguita is not an exception when I showed her the options of the printables she chose the Elmo´s & friends one.

This last week I found myself in difficult stage of my blogging experience (read about it HERE). Although I havent take a decission yet I am considering all roads, many friends from blogland had share with me their experience and to be honest I never tought this happens to almost everyone involve in blogland.

Blogging takes a lot of my time, well I am trying to make a point and start making money with my blog, and it is hard, because you have to spend hours writing posts of my own life (mommyhood, family time, what make me happy, my fears, etc.), looking for blog-improvement, creative ideas to share from others, making yr own creatives ideas, social media, sponsors, etc. etc. It is time consuming, no doubt of that.

Homemade Christmas Tree Ornaments

In my previous post (About our Xmas Traditions - HERE) I totally forgot that since my girl was 2 years old, we added a tradition to our growing list. The tradition is making Christmas ORnaments for our tree. Daddy, Lil Girl & Mommy each of us make one ornament then make a the hanging in the tree a total event.

These are from previous years:

2009 - made by my Lil Girl when she was almost 3yo. I couldnt find the original photos from each one we made, and I am using the pics from this year - plap!

this one was made for my Hubbie in 2010. He is not a crafty (as many outthere), but he makes an effort when it tries to spend time with his two girls. :)

an ice skating ballerina from 2010 - made by my lil Girl, we have no snow here in Panama we are a tropical country, hope someday we have the opportunity to travel and meet the snow for first time.

The Xmas Tree Star, was made by Lil Girl in 2010, I cut it for her and she dressed it up.

The hand Reindeers are from this year - 2011 (details HERE Day 15)

I also like to make a Crocheted Angel per year, I havent finished the 2011 yet, shame on me! And we have in our Xmas tree maybe 5 or 7, because I start to make them since we got married and we have almost 8 years of been married. yeah!

Advent 12, 13, 14 & 15

LONG POST on advent issues:

Hi pals,
How are you doing? Fine & happy? hope so, because I do, we do, in our house.
We are sick & happy, sick because of the dust from the xmas ornaments boxes and happy because

It´s Christmas Time!!!

We had many plans for these days but we cannot go out, just to the doctor, because our terrific allergy (me & my lil girl), we that said let me tell that as days past I have to change what is in the Advent Calendar, :(

my girl keep running every morning to catch the paper in every sac of the calendar, and also look for the Reindeer (who is supposed to be watching her), it is so funny because she actually speaks to him (as a secret but I always hear her :). She keep telling the Reindeer to tell Santa that she has being a nice girl, eating all the food, she is being nice, etc. etc. She also told the Reindeer if he can say to her where Santa lives, cause she doesnt exactly knows where the North Pole is, and if its true that there is a Grinch Man near to the North Pole, jejejejeje (we saw the Grinch recently). Hilarious.

We are having so much fun, waiting for the Bday of Jesus (I have plans to celebrate Xmas this year in a different way - keep tone to watch our pics). This saturday Dec.17, a couple of friends of my lil girl are coming home to a Spirit of Xmas Celebration (I know it is in Dec.21st, but all their parents work out of home so I am the only stay at home mom in the group they cannot make from monday thru friday :( )

Back to our advent calendar, let me tell that on the
Day 12:

my lil girl helped me to cook some "platanos", she love to help in the kitchen.

In this pic she was angry because she just woke up from her nap and got scared because there was rainy really hard and everything was dark around the house (it was 3pm or something) and she tought she was alone in the house (crazy girl!), and yell and cry running around the house and I was in the kitched cooking some platanos then she decided to help and the angry last about 3 minutes. you can noticed the three minutes where while I was taking the pics :)

still mad jejejeje.

Day 13:

Make-up herself, no mommy instructions no supervision, no nothing

we spent the afternoon making crafts. I got inspired by this Xmas tree

A confession + 1

the 2011 is about to end and I am making my purposes and to do list for the new year 2012.
one think I have being thinking and considering in my next year list is my BLOG. Exactly, here
my blog. Why do I say that? well, during all 2011 I gave it a twist, a new look, i had being in social media, looking for sponsors, giveaways, followers, etc. I knew it wouldnt be easy, because of the experience of many many women in the blog-land, but I never image how HARD it could be. I have try to stay positive, but well ... I dont know if I have to keep trying one more year. It takes a lot of my time, and here in my town people dont pay for blog advertising, dont sponsor anything and dont do product reviews not like in other countries.

Also, I, there is the +1, I am not sure if somebody out there read my writing. When I started the blog was for sharing my daily life, as mommy, as housewife, my crafts, etc. and that is what I do at this moment, but I am not sure if somebody is reading me.

This place is my place of confessions. This is my in-touch to the world.

What can I say... I am sad. I am considiring quiting my blogland experience, if you stop here during the next days, could you tell me if it is too soon to quit? shall I try another year? is there something I should change here or add something.

Advent Calendar 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11

This is a recap from our last 6 days during advent.

Day 5,

Crafty Day: Me & my girl made xmas cards for their classmates and also finished makings sweet treats as gifts for them.

Day 6,

Party Time: there was a party at my daughters pk school and I was organizing it together with other 3 moms. My girl really enjoyed the party and sweat treats and gifts we prepared for them

Day 7,

We went to TGIF Amador, is my husband, daughter & me favorite restaurant, is kid friendly, is fun, and the food is great.

Day 8,

Here in Panama we celebrate Mother´s Day on December 8, and that day my daughter prepared breakfast with her day. They made pancakes and lil Burundanguita decorated them. Here a pic of it.

Day 9,

We Watch Barbie in a Perfect Xmas. My girl love it as well as alllll the other thousand Barbie movies. And for the very first time, the movie had a meaning, the xmas is where you are with the people you love the most, that makes the perfect xmas. Not the gifts, not the food or decorations, is the love you can share with the people you love.

Day 10,

We participate in an activity the Kiwanis Club of my husband. They made a Xmas party for distinguished kids in a public school. My girl helped to give the food, the favors & gifts to the kids.

Day 11,
My girl is sick, she has environmental allergies, and the weather in our country doesnt help. It has been rainy and extra hot sunny days, and she spent the last night coughing and coughing. Today it rain and then the sun and the rain again, a terrible day for her. Today was the Xmas parade and we had plans, but as she is sick we couldnt make it :(
Instead of that, we spent all day watching movies

Our Xmas Traditions

We celebrate Advent every year with our advent calendar (read about our activities HERE); and also in a religious way we pray around our advent crown. Which is celebrated four sundays befores Christmast, starting the last sunday of november. What we do during this activity? well each sunday we light a color candle and make our prayers, and read from the bible and discuss what we understood of the readings.

Here in my country (Panama, no we are not indians living in the mountain, we are a modern town with high buildings, maseratis, porshe and lamborgini in the streets, with mcdonalds, and we have the marvelous Canal of Panama one of the most important things of engineering of all times, jejejeje, just to make notice).

Some people make their crown with candles in color pink, lila, red and white, some others use red (1) and purple (3).

We also have the Elf in the Shelf tradition but as we dont have the Elf itself we used a Reindeer you can read about HERE. Also we have a Little People Nativity set for our daughter to play and as decoration too.

It is important for me to make traditions I think that those things are what my lil girl will remember when she grow up, maybe someday she will decide to pass those traditions to her own family or maybe she will include something more.

We also, read stories about christmas from story books and also the bible, we sing our christmas carols (villancicos in spanish and kalantas in greek), we have holiday movie watching, crafts and treats devoured. These year as a new thing I am collecting stories of the meaning of what people do or have as traditions during christmas, ie the poinsettia flower, the candy cane, the christmas stockings, etc. I know there are many traditions all over the world but I will include the one I have know since I was a child myself.

I hope I have the chance to share them here.

Christmas Tree Skirt Ideas

This year I had in my long list of Xmas to do´s:

1. a new advent calendar - DONE
2. a new wreath - DONE
3.. a new Skirt for the tree - noooooooooooooooooooo I totally forgot, and ... definetly cannot make it, not this year, maybe next year. It is not that I am late on that, is just that I cannot decide which one to make, and I want to make one that last, like our advent calendar for this year.

Elf in the Shelf?

I am totally in the Xmas mood, yes I am.
Today, I had moment that almost stole my Christmas Spirit but It couldnt why? because I love Xmas so much and wont let anybody in the world to break my spirit, to stole my happiness in this minute, not at all.

Then, when I came home I started to think in all the good things I have (my daughter, my hubbie my family, our health, etc.) and have done during this 2011, and I am HAPPY for that, and very PROUD too, and I also thought that there will always be people who will be happy to see others cry. Not with me, not today not this 2011.

Anyways, no more words waisted in that theme...

Have you heard about the Elf in the Shelf tradition? well, you can read HERE. Isnt he/she (you give him/her name) the cutest? I read about it, some years ago, and as I didnt have this little buddy (the doll) here in my town, I chose a reindeer I have in my house and name it our Reindeer in the Chair, jejeje

My girl enjoys finding him (still has no name and definetly is a boy she says he is a boy) in the morning.

Advent Calendar Day 4

Well my hubbie had to travel out of town today and we both my lil girl and I had to make things ourselves during all day, we started the day making our breakfast (cereal & banana for her & coffee for me). Then we start preparing all favor for her PK Xmas Party next Tuesday (pictures to come).

After that, we went out for lunch & visit this amazing restaurant here in Panama City name Rock Burger which is in Marbella Area (one of the fanciest areas in Panama, yes it is). What I like about Rock Buger Restaurant is that it is a clean place, the people who attended costumer are always available and happy with a big smile in their faces, well that is my experience. They have fast service no more than 8 to 10 minutes waiting for your food. They have a variety of meals in their menu which all happens to be kids friendly.

Rock Burger is my lil girl new spot to hang out with family in weekends.

After that we went to Farmacias Arrocha a nices store here in Panama where you can buy everything (from medicines thru toys and makeup), looking for some gifts we have missed for shopping before & of course we found it.

Then we went back home and by that time, daddy has arrived home and we had our "family time" together.
We started by praying our Advent Crown ritual (you can find an explanation of what it is HERE), we pray, sang some regilious songs, and said our special thoughts about advent time.

For me it is important to teach my lil girl family traditions, the love for the family and God. I think that memories will last in her mind forever and hope someday she past this same traditions to her own kids.

Then we past to another fun part. Our advent calendar said "xmas songs singing" yeaaaaaaaaaa... Like a KARAOKE :) My lil girl got crazy when we explain her what we were supposed to do, jejejeje because she is kind of a little Hannah Montana but better than Hannah of course.

I have collected during the year a variety of music from xmas music in a panamanian style (foklore), greek xmas music, spain music, etc. etc. And then we many options to choose when we made our Karaoke.

Advent Calendar Day 3

Sunny Sunday, finally a sunny day, here in my town he have spent several rainy days but not those bitty rainy no storm, flooded, terrible days. But today is a sunny & beautiful day. What are we going to do, I havent read yet what is in our advent calendar for today :) I have to wait till my precious lil girl wake up (she is still sleep here is around 7am and the sun is all outside and beautiful the sea is gorgeous all blue beautiful blue gueee).

Yesterday we had a Beauty Parlor time, I made her a "blower" (did you noticed the quotations?), yes I made her a blower with the slow and airy temperature to have precaution and not hurting her with the heat. It didnt came out straight as she or me could want but she had fun in the process and the result was nice. She didnt wat photos. She said: "mommy why you are always taking photos, no more photos today" - with her funny angry face, jejejeje That said I had to respect her decision and no photos to dont upset her. :/

Anyways, we had a blower day (no photos as evidence). Let see what happens today as Day 4, and if she let me take pictures of the events. Maybe we will go shopping, yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Teacher Appreciation Gifts

December 1st in Panama, is a day to celebrate our Teachers at school.
My pk girl prepared made cards for her teachers and also we did some sweet treats as a bouquet.
Here pictures of the process and the results.

My precious very proud of her work.

We started making the cards, I put brown paint in her hand to stamp her own hand in the paper to make a tree

some extra touches

after the brown paint is dry comes the leaves.

the red dots (supposed to be apples) were made with the erase of a pencil an red paint, the flowers are huge rainstones and "limpia pipas" (dont know how it is call in english) and everything is done. My lil girl doesnt know to write much (she now the ABC but not to make complete sentences, etc.), I helped her to write somethings and she wrote others.

Also we made some decorated buckets, recycling some medium size Pringles boxes. we used scrap papers, shredded paper, ribbons and foam

For the buckets we started we oreos, but I didnt bought double stuffed and I could not place the sticks in them, so I change to marshmallows, easier than ever.

Felt Christmas Wreath Tutorial

I promised you that I will post the Tutorial for my Felt Christmas Wreath, remember this post yesterday HERE, well a promise is a promise for me and here I am to make it happens. Take pencil and paper and then go shopping yr materials to start making a beauty wreath just like mine (and many others in the web, ja!).

before you scroll down - warning EXTRA LONG POST!!!

First of all, the supplies you will need are:

1. about 2 1/2 yards of felt in the color of yr choice.

2. a wreath base (mine is aprx 15 inches)

3. a lot of push pins, at the beginnig I used those with colored head, and for the last two lines I used those without colored heads (I prefer with tiny one), you will see them below

4. scissors

5. a circle template of 3 inches aprox.

6. ribbon or organza ribbon, to cover all the wreath around, in same color as felt. I used 2 inches organza about 4 yards.

7. hot gun and glue just in case, I always turn on my glue gun when I start a project no matter what it is. I dont know why. isnt it precaution? again, I dont know is kind of "mania"

to begin you take the wreath and the ribbon/organza and cover it all (help by push pins or hot glue gun, ok) like this, for me it wasnt important to be exact or perfect, I was just having fun, A LOT OF FUN doing this!

then start cutting as many as you can of 3" circles in yr chosen color felt. I cut aproximately 200+ circles no kidding, my fingers see a scissors and start to cry :(

This was just the first cut I thought it will be enough, but silly me, it was just for a corner in the wreath again
:( keep going and going

When you have cut all yr circles, then you take one and fold it in half like in the photo

Once again, fold it half. It will look like a tiny triangle with a round corner like this

And then with a colored push pin and beginning inside-out you start placing your mini felt triangles like this, all around the wreath,

then the next like and the next line like this

When you are done placing yr mini felt triangles you have to fluff them to like flowers and the result has to be like this

You can decorate yr felt wreath with bows or Xmas ornaments bought froms stores. I did our with white felt flowers, three of them because (2 big and one smaller - there is always a reason in the things I do, jijiji) we are 3 in our house hubbie, lil girl and me.

For the flowers I made this:

I started cutting 6 circles of aprox. 2 1/2 inches (one extra for the bottom of the flower) and 5 circles of 4inches for each flower (the big one). For the smaller flower I used one inch less for everything.

after all the circles are cut, then I place one circle of 2 1/2 inches above the 4" circles

and sew them together like this:

after all 5 petals have being sewn you will have something like this

Then you start making your flower, sewing yr petals all together like this

your flower has to look something like this when all 5 petals are together

the extra circle is for the bottom of the flower

and to make an accent you can put a rainstone or a contract felt color as a flower center like this

Also I used green felt for the leaves and there you have your flower and a NEW Felt Christmas Wreath

Advent Calendar Day 2

Thanks God is Friday (TGIF) ...

After school I took lil girl to the yatcht club, she love that place very much, because there are a lot of birds, the sea, and of course the boats. She likes it very much. Also I took her to one of her favorites resturant in that area Albert´s, which is a kind of italian restaurant that has this pizza salad dish. I explain it better: is a rolled pizza with mushrooms & peperonis like a pionono cake in a circle. and in the middle has a small bowl with a greek salad with a lot of fetta cheese. My lil girl love that food.

In the yatch club (no we dont have a boat there)

and after a long day full of tours and food, we were going back home.

Advent Calendar Day 1

Advent Time??? MMM funny, crafty, and insteresting 25 days full of activities, reading, sweet treats, crafts, rides to the park, mall, etc. and my lil girl will be very busy and wont stop in front of the Xmas tree to try to open the gifts.

I will be sharing with you what is in our Advent Calendar, well at least I will try to post them on a daily basis.

Day 1:

We shared a delicious Xmas Ice Cream full of holiday sprinkles, my lil girl love it very much!

The bowl was full of ice and a lot of little sprinkles. You can said what is different in that bowl than other ice cream days? well my friend, actually I always give her one ball of ice cream (vainila or chocolate or whatever no both) and this time I gave her 3 balls (2 vainilla and 1 chocolate),

Those beautiful eyes are my most precious treasures, they are full in my soul, in my heart I am totally in love with them. How can a person love that much? I never knew before a love like this. Burundanguita you are the light in my life road, my reason to keep going, I pray every night to God since you were borned, to pls pls give me health to see grow and that let you make amazing things to change this world into a better place. (yes I got emotional and tears are out now)

I love you my lil girl!

When she saw the bowl full of ice cream she put the funny face like "wow, that is for me? are you sure mommy?" jejejejeje that expressions on her face always make my day.

Christmas is better since she born 4 years ago, I remember that when I was little (maybe 10 or 12 years old) I always told myself that when I grow up and have my own family with my own kids I will have traditions with them, that way when they grow up too they could share them with their own kids too.

And now I am in the middle of that toughts, I am making traditions with my girl and husband too. They both love when I come with activities or things for us to make together. This year when my lil girl noticed that I took all the boxes for Xmas elements from the attic, she said: "are we having activities like the other xmas too?", that means that she remember last year, you know what I mean? that is important to me. that made my day.

Anyways, I know I am very emotional, who doesnt at xmas ja?

December is finally here

For me Christmas is from December 1st (not just the 25), sooooooo

Merry Advent time for Christmas!!!

The year is almost over...
I always try to make all my Xmas decorations, gifts and everything in my house. I repeat I try. Sometimes the time doesnt help!

This year, I organized myself and start working on Xmas stuff since last october.
And, today I want to share with you, my friends, our front Door Christmas Wreath. Last year I saw several ideas of Wreaths in felt, burlap, paper, and so many other materials, but at the end I didnt make anything new, and we used the one we already had.

But not this 2011. This year I review a lot of ideas again, and then decided to work in burlap or felt. I started with burlap a light brown burlap, but I didnt like that the fabric edges was mess and I couldnt sew it, and everything was falling apart. So I quit burlap, and go with felt. I looked for inspiration again. Although, our house is decorated in dark pink, lime, lilac and red. Our front door is white, then I needed something basic for the door, so I decided RED was the correct color, because is a basic for Xmas, dont you think? ejem, when you open the door of my house you can see everything in the above mentioned colors, jijiji

Advent Calendar 2011

Hi my friends, how are you? what are you planning to make this advent time with your kids and family?

This year I promise myself to make a long lasting Advent Calendar, one that still be alive in 2015+ :)
I decided to sew it. And this is what came, I didnt have a plan when I started. I just diceded the colors to be festive and girly very girly as my lil girl is femine romantic adorable, that is my girl, yes she is! And using everything we already had at home, nothing new all from the cabinets, jars, etc. etc. Nothing new.

in the photo my lil girl happier than never, because December finally arrived.From my fabrics sash I chose light pink, yellow, acqua, a bit of orange and red (to say it is for Xmas). The letters are made from scrapbook paper and they are attached in the back with a push pin, to change them whenever we want to.

The embellishments all chosen by my lil girl from my buttons jars, and the ribbons too. Oh important is that the foamy flowers are a gift from last summer 2011 from my dear friend Monica from Venezuela (give her a visit she speaks spanish and her creations are great).

I didnt have a tutorial for it, because I made it without a planification, I mean by trial and error.

Xmas Wreaths

This year, I am all about making our little house xmas decorations, or at least I will try to make them all. Although time is over my head, cause December is right next week, today i kept looking for Xmas wreaths inspiration, and I found this gorgeous idea. Definetly I have being lost for several days, I know I know. What can I say as excuse?? mmmm nothing.

My Minnie Mouse Cheerleader

Did I tell you I do like Halloween? well, As I stated in a previous post (here) here in my town Halloween doesnt have a wow celebration. Although some people, like I do, keep celebrating int in family

This year we are going to attend a halloween party at the house of one of my daughter´s school buddies. We have being preparing our costumes, treating bucket, etc. etc. even my hubby is joining us to celebrate. jejejeje we are so exited about that.

My daughter is going to wear a beautiful Minnie Mouse Cheerleader Costume from Costume Discounters.
What I liked about this Costume is that it came in a manageable package that even has a hanger to place it in the closet. The dress itself is so adorable and girly my daughter loves it and has wear it two times as daily clothes because she says is so comfortable (her own words but in spanish). The package came with a dress, a headpiece and the pompoms everything coordinated in colors and fabrics, again very girly. I chose a 4 size, although I actually buy her 6 size clothes, and this one fits her very well. It has velcro to attach it in the back, easy for childs to get dress themselves.

There are also a lot of costumes ideas you can choose yr favorite character or if you like spooky costumes, there are also a lot of options you can choose. Give Costume Discounters a visit, you wont regret.

Creo que ya te he contacto que me encanta Halloween,c ierto? En un post previo te comente (aqui) que aqui en mi pais no se le da mucha pomba al Halloween. Aunque algunas personas, como yo, si lo celebramos y en familia.

Este año asistiremos a la fiesta de un amiguito de nuetra hija. Nos hemos estado preparando para la fiesta, escogiendo nuestros atuendos/disfraces, la canasta para recoger las pastillas, etc. hasta mi esposo asistira a la fiesta, gueeee

Mi pequeña hija escogio un disfraz de Cheerleader de Minnie Mouse de la tienda Costume Discounters.

Me encanta de este vestido/disfraz es que viene empacado en una practica bolsa que hasta tiene su gancho para que lo guindes en tu closet cuando no lo vayas a usar o para guardarlo. El vestido en si es super femenino, tiene acabados en sus costuras super fuertes a mi pequeña le encanta, es mas se lo ha puesto de ropita de diario dos veces, ella dice que es super comodo (en sus propias palabras). En el paquete venia el vestido de minnie, la bincha y unos pompones todo coordinado en colores y telas, de nuevo muy femenino. Lo pedi en talla 4, aunque mi hija generalmente viste talla 6 este le quedo espectacular como hecho a medida. Tiene velcro en la espalda lo cual hace mas facil para que las niñas solas puedan vestirse.

En Costume Discounters tiene muchas otras ideas para que puedas escoger tu disfraz o de tus hijos de personajes y también si te gustan los más tenebrosos, uf tienen un monton. Asi que dale una visita a Costume Discounters no te arrepentiras.

Aquí te dejo con unas fotitos de mi pequeña dama luciendo su Disfraz de Cheerleader de Minnie Mouse, ella lo combino (no incluido en el disfraz o el paquete) con unos leggins rosa fuerte.

Halloween - FREE PRINTABLE

I love Holidays, no matter where they come from (country of origin).
For me it is important that we can have fun as family celebrating something interesting and again FUN.
That is what matters to me. Here in my country most of people says that Halloween is a bad holiday because of dark side of life. And i also answer back: "come on, there are more witches and bad people around during the rest of the 364 days of the year that in oct.31st (halloween) itself, soooo get a life!"

I dont like to share ugly things here in my blog, but I just wanted to share how is the thing in my precious country Panama regarding Halloween. Ah, yes something more, since last 2010 there is no Halloween or treat or tricks at schools. It has been forbidden to celebrate it. Could you believe that? because of same thing: "dark side of life" come on???? what a shame because kids have a lot of fun during the parties and celebrations and treating or tricking, dont you think?

Anyhow, we at our home do celebrate Halloween, our lil girl has her costume already fitted and ready just waiting for the day. Last 2 years we went to TGIF restaurant because there is always a party and gifts for the kids. In our neighborhood :( and most of our friends :( they dont celebrate it, boring people :(

Our front door is ready but there are no photos yet, so keep tune to watch our decorations. And yes, we celebrate to the fullest!

Pillow Case Dress

I am kind of a party girl, I love planning and setting party for my daughter and our family. I dont need a special day for that.
Recently we thru a Sesame Street Pijama party to celebrate mid-year school break for my girl.
Here the pics of the events.

As I didnt knew all moms I decided it will be nice to have invitations with all the info in it.

Invitations

we made 3 kind big bird, cookie and elmo, there were 10 kids (boys&girls)

We tried to make a cookie monster cake and cupcakes, at least we tried and of course my and my precious lil girl had a lot of fun in the process.

We decorate with balloons we had in the house, some glass jars and fresh flowers.

We cut with our Cricut machine some elmos, grovers, etc. figures to hang from ceiling. Also make a photo boot with mustaches props, glasses, etc. the kids had a lot of fun here my girl showing her mustaches that I found here

Also set an ice cream bar for the kids to make their own delicious one.

Fashionista / Barbie Party

In january our lil girl turned 4 yo, and since august 2010, I started to look for ideas, buy stuff (so my hubbie dont get mad with me spending a lot of money) and I started to make all that a Girl Party requires. Mi lil Girl was so thrilled with the idea because her party have past and then a month after we start thinking int he next (all kids dreams) jejejej, yes I am a little bit compulsive, obsesive and extremely addicted to have everything under control. I think having everything writing down and detailed help me enjoy better the things. Let me know if you have or not this obssession too!!!

We worked on several ideas, the most difficult was choosing the theme for the bday party, first my Burundanguita (my lil girl) told to use Hello Kitty and I thought perfect as I have a kitty cricut cartridge, so it was supposed to be peace of cake. After a month, she changed her mind (typical for 3yo children for that time) then she chose Ballerinas, and then we start sein thru the web advertising and stuff regarding Barbie in a fairy tale (Paris) new movie and we rent the movie and watched, and she felt in love with it (Siquin, Jeulianna, the flairies, and of course barbie and ken), and i say baby this is it because I have the Forever Young Cricut cartridge that has amazing shapes for a Fashionista Party.

Then I started working on every detail of the party, that at the end turn out as a Fashionista in Paris and Crafts Tea Party for 10 girls incluiding my girl, at least I try.

Searching the web I found a lot of ideas to get inspired, because I tought in making the Millicents Building just like the movie, my lil girl loved the idea, and I said myself " this is it, I will save on renting the brink brinka park which is very used here in Panama for kid parties", and I started to collect my giant boxes.

We did like swing cards, they turn upsideanddown, then (hubbie, lil Burundanguita, and me) to make the caketoppers, the totebags (we did personalized sewing totes for each girl), the pompoms, and all details for the walls, the popcorns vases, a fashionista tutu for my BDAY GIRL (details HERE) the fashionista castle/villa itself (with a shoppette, a Millicents building, a beauty shop, and more), and then when december 2010 arrived we have it all amost ready for the party, yeahhh!!!

For the activities the girls had makeup, nail polish, wearing boas and necklaces, decorated cupcakes, play in the shoppette and the beauty shop, also they made scrapbook and little cards for themselves. The moms made a MiniAlbum (see details HERE)

En enero nuestra hija cumplio sus 4 añitos, y desde Agosto de 2010 empece a buscar ideas, comprar cositas de a poquito (para no estresar a mi esposo con los gastos) y a confeccionar todo lo que se requeria. Mi pequeña estaba fascinada porque recien habia pasado su fiesta y ya estabamos organizando la siguiente. Jejejejje si soy muy muy compulsiva, obsesiva y extremadamente adictada a tener todo bajo control. Es que teniendo todo escrito y detallado con anticipación, y por supuesto viendo las cosas adelantadas, me ayuda a disfrutar mas los eventos. A poco no te pasa lo mismo!!!

En fin, repasamos muchas muchisimas ideas, la más difícil fue escoger el tema del Bday, primero a mi hija le gustaba Hello Kitty, y dije perfecto tengo un cartucho de Cricut de Kitty asi que será pan comido. Luego de un mes de buscar ideas, mi hija cambio de parecer, tipo de los niños de su edad (3 años en ese entonces), después paso a querer Bailarinas, y luego cuando se empezo a publicitar la pelicula Barbie Moda en Paris, y la vimos, ella quedo enamorada de Siquin, Jiuliana, las Flairies, y por supuesto barbie y ken, etc. y dije este tiene que ser el tema, porque además tambien tengo el cartucho Forever Young de Cricut que precisamente (por lo menos para mi) hace alusion a Fashionistas.

Así dije manos a la obra y con este hacemos la fiesta, que resulto en una Tarde de Té y manualidades Fashionista en Paris para 10 niñas incluida mi hija, o por lo menos traté de que fuera así.

Encontre en la web varias ideas de castillo (para reproducir la idea del edificio de Millicents en la pelicula) con cajas de carton y a mi hija le encantaron. Así que me dije "trataré de hacer este y lo logre, me encantó el resultado, me ahorro contratar los brincolines y esas cosas (muy usado en Panama para fiestas!)", y empece mi recolección de cajas gigantes.

Hicimos las tarjetas tipo swing, es decir se viran y dan la sensación de ser desarmables, de alli pasamos (mi esposo, mi hija y yo, los 3 trabajamos parejo) a confeccionar los cupcakes toppers, los totebags (que fueron personalizados para cada niña) los pompoms, las aplicaciones que irian en las paredes, lo empaques para los popcorns, el tutu para mi NIÑA CUMPLEAÑERA (detalles AQUI) y los edificios fashionista, y asi llegado diciembre 2010 ya casi todo estaba listo.

Dentro de la actividades, las niñas se maquillaron, pintaron las uñas y lucieron lentes, boas y collares, decoraron cupcakes, jugaron al salon de belleza y super mercado en la VILLA e hicieron scrapbook y tarjetitas para ellas mismas. Las mamis mientras tanto hicieron un MiniAlbum (Ver detalles AQUI)
